SmackDown's opening video plays as Thusday Night SmackDown begins. Michael Cole and Josh Matthews hype up tonight's card as they say tonight John Cena is in action against Dolph Ziggler, we will get word on Big Show's condition following last week's incident, and the main event tonight is Sheamus taking on an opponent of The Rock's choosing.
SmackDown! General Manager Stephanie McMahon walks out with a microphone in hand. Stephanie says that when her brother took over the company he made her in charge of SmackDown, as well as vacate all the championships in the WWE. Stephanie then said that 3 weeks from tonight we will crown a new Intercontinental Champion right here on SmackDown, the show before the Royal Rumble. As tonight and next week we will have 1 qualifying match to determine the 2 wrestlers to compete for the belt, and the first match begins now.
Ted DiBiase def. Antonio Cesaro, The Miz, Wade Barrett: Fatal 4 Way Intercontinental Championship Qualifying Match
The match was great to begin the show of the top heels on the blue brand. The match ended with Antonio Cesaro and Wade Barrett in the ring, Cesaro running at Wade, but Wade caught him and hit the Changing Winds on Antonio. Then The Miz slides in and him and Wade brawl, eventually Wade clotheslining The Miz out of the ring, Wade getting out too, as they continue to brawl once they get up from the floor. Antonio Cesaro looking dazed as he tried to get up, as Ted DiBiase slid in behind Antonio and measured him up and hit the Dream Street, then pinned Antonio Cesaro.
Ted's music hit as he celebrated, as Miz and Wade stopped brawling after noticing Ted had won, as we go to a commercial break.
John Cena def. Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero
The match was good. It ended with back and forth rights, before Dolph hit a Dropkick on Cena, laying him out. Dolph crawled over to cover Cena, and only got a 2 count. Dolph pick Cena up and was setting up for a Suplex when Cena countered and lifted Dolph up on his shoulders and hit the AA. Cena then quickly locked in the STF as Dolph screamed, trying not to tap, trying to get to the ropes. Finally Ziggler just tapped.
John Cena's music hit as he celebrated with the fans cheering, Vickie yelling and complaining to the ref, as Dolph rolled out of the ring and him and Vickie stayed there until Cena went up the ramp, and they followed, as we went to a commercial break.
Back from commercial break we see ...
